Hariri urges Lebanese people to maintain calm, patience and wisdom
Head of the Future Movement Saad Hariri urged on Tuesday the Lebanese people to maintain calm amid the current circumstances prevailing over the country and the region, warning against the dangers of sedition.

“I call on all the Lebanese to remain calm, have patience and wisdom,” Hariri said in a statement issued by his media office.

Hariri reiterated his trust in Prime Minister Tammam Salam's government and its decisions amid the “critical” situation the country is currently witnessing.

Tit-for-tat kidnappings on Monday sparked unrest in the Bekaa towns of Saadnayel and Arsal.

The latest developments prompted the army to carry out raids in search of suspected kidnappers in the Bekaa town of Brital.

Lebanon has been faced with the possibility of the infiltration of extremists into the country following the clashes that took place in August between the Lebanese army and Islamists from Syria in the northeastern border town of Arsal.

Tensions have also run high between the Lebanese people and Syrian refugees on the backdrop of the kidnapping of a number of Lebanese soldiers and policemen by Islamists' at the end of clashes that had erupted in the northeastern border town early August.

“The return to the kidnapping and counter-kidnapping is a negative development amid the rise in sectarian tension,” Hariri warned.

He pointed out that the crisis of the abducted soldiers and policemen, who are of different sects, should force the Lebanese people to support the state and prevent terrorists from achieving their goals.
