Refugees in Germany launch first Arabic newspaper, Abwab

Abwab is the first Arabic newspaper issued in Germany for the Arabic-speaking refugees.

The editor-in-chief Ramy Alasheq, who is also Syrian-Palestinian refugee, journalist, poet and activist said that the newspaper, which will be issued every month, aims at building bridges between the Syrian and German communities.

Launched on December 1, 2015, the first print run of Abwab, which is Arabic for doors, hit 25,000 copies and was distributed for free at refugee shelters and community centers across the country.

The second edition, due soon, will be printed at least 45,000 times.
