Israeli government decides to halt Al Jazeera's operations

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government unanimously decided on Sunday to halt the operations of Qatar's Al Jazeera television network in Israel.

A statement from the government did not specify when the decision would take effect.

The cabinet vote followed the Israeli Knesset's approval of a bill allowing for the temporary closure of foreign broadcast stations in Israel that are deemed a threat to national security during the war against Hamas in Gaza.
