Alain Aoun: Public spending should be according to norms
Member of Parliament Alain Aoun told Voice of Lebanon that all public spending should follow the norms and regular procedures, adding that the $11 billion which was spent by former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora's government should be carefully audited. He added that initial reports showed that the auditors discovered lot of loopholes in the spending of the former governments.

The MP reiterated his rejection to link the LL8.9 trillion with the $11 billion because the two issues cannot even be compared.

"We want to find out how and where the $11 billion was spent," Aoun argued.

He stressed that any proposal to find a solution to the $11 billion should be handled by the Budget and Finance Parliamentary Committee alone. Aoun also differed with Speaker of the House Nabih Berri on ways to handle the controversy over public spending.
