Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed that the funds, including telecom funds, are available for the municipal works, noting that a decree has been signed determining means of distribution of the regular revenues every three months between municipalities.
During the founding conference for municipal work held on Sunday, Bassil recalled that, since 2008, the Free Patriotic Movement has kicked off its battle within the government in a bid to give the municipalities a portion of the telecommunications revenues, calling for exerting pressure in order to move forward with this aim.
Commenting on the Syrian displacement, the minister said that it is forbidden to hold gatherings or build camps for Syrian refugees in the towns where municipality is pro-FPM.
He added that these municipalities will prevent the Syrian refugees from opening commercial shops.
On balanced development, Bassil said that “since the FPM has accessed the cabinet, they have not approved the issuance of any unbalanced governmental decision.”
He pointed out that two development projects were approved, but were partially implemented under the pretext of lack of funds, revealing that Mount Lebanon suffers 66% shortage in distribution of allocations.
