Hani Ahmad Najem, a supporter of hardline Salafist cleric Ahmad al-Assir turned himself in to the Lebanese Armed Forces Saturday at Taamir checkpoint in Ain al-Helwe.
Many arrest warrants had been previously issued against Najem, after his disappearance in 2013 following the Abra clashes.
The Internal Security Forces’ General Directorate arrested Assir in August 2015 for being involved in deadly clashes that resulted in the deaths of 19 army troops.
