Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said Thursday that his ministry has not issued any decision concerning the lands of the Jbeil town of Akoura, stressing that “all reports in this regard are fabricated.”
In a press conference where he tackled the issue of real estate and land survey in Akoura town, Khalil stated that “the Lebanese state will hold accountable anyone who steals its properties,” stressing that political and media pressure will not be effective.
“We are leading a battle to preserve the properties of the state and the citizens,” he stated, adding that many public estates have been stolen in several regions due to conspiracies plotted between employees, politicians or mokhtars where they were registered in the names of certain people.
