Tashnag delegation meets Geagea in Maarab
A Tashnag Party delegation visited on Friday Maarab and met with Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea, after which it stressed the need to draft a “fair and modern vote law.”
“We emphasized the need to hold the elections won their due times while guaranteeing apt representation for all political forces, confessions and sects,” Tashnag MP Hagop Pakradounian said following the meeting.
“Accordingly, we and the LF have the same standpoint that efforts should be increased before the February 21 deadline in order to reach a fair and modern electoral law,” he added.
He also noted that “there are some reservations made regarding the hybrid electoral law.”
Asked whether Tashnag will ally with the LF in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Pakradounian said his party supports the emerging LF-Free Patriotic Movement alliance and “feels to be in the heart of this new formula that led to the election of MP Michel Aoun as president.”
“We have stressed the need for Christian unity throughout our political history and today we're seeing the completion of a vital part of this unity and we want all Christian and national forces to participate in this attempt,” Pakradounian concluded by saying.
