Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said Monday that a strong relation between the Lebanese residents and the Lebanese expatriates leads to a stronger Lebanese entity, represented by the state, the people and a community in solidarity.
In an address he gave during a reception ceremony, which was held on Sunday by the Lebanese Chargé d'affaires in Congo’s Kinshasa, Henry Kastoun, Bassil warned against endorsing an electoral law that threatens national unity and shatters the Lebanese society through stratification and inappropriate representation.
"This will only threaten our unity and social coherence; thus, we should work hand in hand to rule out the ratification of such a law and seek instead an electoral formula that ensures equality and justice among the Lebanese to bolster unity," he added.
Moreover, Bassil said that there was negligence that needed to be fixed handling the affairs of Lebanese citizens residing in Lebanon and abroad.
