Following their monthly meeting, the Maronite bishops regretted the exchange of mutual accusations in the fallen abducted soldier’s case and considered that if an investigation was to be carried out, the issue must be defined instead of releasing political charges.
The bishops also noted that the army proved its power and preparation to lead an offensive, expressing their appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices they made “to purify the Lebanese borders from extremism.”
They also tackled the issue of the school tuition fees calling on the families to deal precisely with this issue and on the state to cancel exceptional grades in order to prevent exposing the educational sector to crises that will negatively reflect on its role.
The bishops also wished that the economic situation forms a wakeup call to the people in charge that will push towards new reforms and measures to fight against corruption.
