Teymour Joumblatt, son of MP Walid Joumblatt, took to Twitter on Thursday to comment on the reactions sparked by the photo posted by his sister Dalia Joumblatt.
The tweet read, “Today we stood by the freedoms of press and expression, and there is no discussion concerning public freedom; but in Lebanon, where professional and free media constitutes an integral part of its intellectual wealth as well as a beacon of light in the Arab world, we regret the mishaps of portraying false news only to earn a higher follow-up rate.”
Joumblatt added in another tweet saying, “Some objective investigations in any file contribute to identifying the true facts. I believe that these are the bases of journalism and media that befit a profession that has had many martyrs throughout the past 100 years and still hasn’t acquiesced.”
