[VIDEO] Minister Bassil visits Mirna Chalouhi center after angry demonstration
Supporters of the AMAL Movement burned on Monday evening tires outside the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) "Mirna Chalouhi" Center in Sin El FIL to protest the statements made by Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil against Speaker Nabih Berri.

This as the Lebanese army deployed in the area.

Later on, the FPM's office issued a statement whereby it said that supporters of AMAL Movement attacked Mirna Chalouhi center, burned tires, threw stones and fired gunshots toward the center which prompted the center's security staff to fire back.

The FPM called on its supporters not to make any reactions and demanded its leaders to refrain from making any media statements.

Meanwhile, Minister of Defense Yaacoub al-Sarraf inspected the security situation near the FPM Mirna Chalouhi" Center in Sin El FIL and was briefed about the security procedures taken by the security forces.

Late in the evening, Minister Bassil also visited the FPM center for a short while and left without giving any statement.

Tensions reached boiling point on Monday as footage of Bassil calling Berri "a thug" was circulated on social media.
