REPORT: Israel continues construction of concrete wall along border
Israel continued on Thursday the construction of the concrete wall facing Ras al-Naqoura and at the maritime line of the disputed area.

This as UNIFIL soldiers monitored the works, while the Lebanese and Israeli armies were mobilized with enemy vehicles actively roaming the area.

Meanwhile, A U.S. envoy has assured Lebanese officials that Israel does not want an escalation over a dispute about a border wall, a senior Lebanese government official told Reuters.

"Regarding the visit of the American envoy, he held talks regarding the wall with Israel and said there is no call for concern and there is no direction towards escalation. He assured the Lebanese that Israel does not want escalation," the senior Lebanese government official said.

Yesterday, the Supreme Defense Council stressed that the Israeli concrete wall along the border, if built, will be considered as an attack against Lebanon’s sovereignty and a violation of the UN resolution 1701.

In a statement issued following the meeting held at Baabda presidential palace, the council noted that instructions were sent out in order to fight any attempt by Israel to build the wall, adding that action will continue to be taken on all levels in order to confront the Israeli claims regarding the block 9.

Lebanon says that the wall would pass through territories  that belong to Lebanon but lies on the Israeli side of the Blue Line, where the United Nations demarcated Israel's military withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000.
