Head of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad declared Saturday his alliance with the Free Patriotic Movement in the third electoral district of North Lebanon, saying that “they will engage in the electoral competition with sportsmanship and the loser will congratulate the winner.”
During a press conference to announce his electoral alliances, Moawad said that the sudden decision of the Lebanese Forces candidate to run for the election in Zgharta will only lead to disperse the preferential vote, stressing that “despite everything, he considers the Lebanese Forces as a historical ally and the battle is not against the party.”
Moawad added that he tried to bring the FPM and LF together in one electoral list in Zgharta-Zawiye district, but failed due to personal interests, emphasizing the need to bring back the right to a political opposition in the region.
