Al-Akhbar newspaper received a letter issued by the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Beirut on 24/10/2017, whereby it said that Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea expressed concerns over Saad Hariri’s way of managing his government and the mechanisms adopted in dealing with various issues, hinting at the possibility that the LF ministers resign from it. The document said that Geagea informed the Saudis of his concerns and the need to address the situation.
Also according to the letter, Geagea was aware that he will be sustaining losses on the short-term due to his agreement with the Free Patriotic Movement, but he was betting that on the long run he will gain more popularity among the Christians, since Aoun was old and Gebran Bassil was not very popular among the supporters of the FPM.
Geagea also stated that the FPM will come apart after Michel Aoun and its supporters will be distributed between three parties, supporters of Bassil, others loyal to retired General Chamel Roukoz and some will support those who left the FPM and formed an opposition to Gebran Bassil.
