Al-Akhbar daily: Emirates Leaks – Al-Mashnouq criticizes Hariri’s policies

Al-Akhbar newspaper received a letter, issued on 18/10/2017, revealing the incitement by Emirati Ambassador against PM Saad Hariri.

The content of the letter focuses on Lebanon’s position concerning the elections of the UNESCO Secretary General, where rumors stated that Lebanon voted in favor of Qatar, an information that was never proven at the time, but did not prevent UAE Ambassador Hamad al-Chamsi from using these rumors as if they were a true fact and building analyses based on them.

The letter said that there are information following up on the relations between Hariri and Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq, pointing out that al-Mashnouq considers the positions of Hariri have been going down and will lead to his loss in the parliamentary elections, adding that he has been making sacrifices for the sake of the alliance of Nader al-Hariri and Gebran Bassil, leading him to take positions supporting the path taken by the FPM.

Al-Mashnouq said that among the compromises presented by Hariri are the judicial appointments, approved early October; and after Hariri was opposing these appointments, Nader al-Hariri and Gebran Bassil held a meeting one day earlier, resulting in Hariri’s approval without any amendments. This has led to a dispute within the Future Movement, reflected by al-Mashnouq criticizing Hariri’s policies.
