Energy and water Minister Cesar Abi Khalil declared that agreement has been reached over most of the matters, adding that “they did not propose power ships, but several sources to purchase energy from.”
Following the cabinet session, Abi Khalil added that he has been tasked, along with Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil with conducting negotiations with the company handling the Deir Amar plant.
“We have a plan that we started in 2010 to build power plants on land and the new plants in Jiyeh and Zook have started operating,” he stated.
The minister announced that the mandate of the service provider in the third region has been extended.
“The power supply during the upcoming summer will be like the past summer, unless we managed to find new energy sources, in which case there will be additional hours of supply,” he explained.
