Hezbollah deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem stressed Monday that an alliance does not weaken an electoral list, but it strengthens political agreement, adding that “they wished that the electoral alliances would have been more comprehensive than only two constituencies.”
He stressed that the electoral alliance with the Free Patriotic Movement does not affect the political agreement, which is considered firm and authentic.
In a statement to “Akher Kalima” talk show on LBCI, Sheikh Qassem said that “the party put in place a number of bases for the elections, including the alliance with Amal Movement and the Free Patriotic Movement,” adding that Oussama Saad is their ally in Sidon and in Jezzine their preferential vote will be for Ibrahim Azar.
As for the Metn constituency, Qassem revealed that his party’s preferential votes will be dedicated to the Free Patriotic Movement, which will be left to choose the candidate.
Similarly in Beirut’s 1st constituency, Hezbollah will support the FPM, as Qassem said: “This is part of the general deal.”
