The Ministry of Education entered the line of investigation conducted into the case related to private universities selling forged degrees.
During a meeting for the Higher Education Council, caretaker Minister of Education Marwan Hamadeh declared that he will form a committee to follow up on the case and put together a dossier that will be presented to the council next week.
This investigation will go in parallel with a probe conducted by the Lebanese Armed Forces Intelligence Directorate, which is pursued by Public Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud.
According to information made available, administrators and employees at the two private universities, one in Beirut and another in Bekaa, are subject to investigation in the case of giving fake degrees to civilians and military personnel in return of payments that amounted to 9 thousand dollars per diploma.
