Army commander receives Hale, US ambassador to Lebanon

US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale continued his visit to Lebanon on Sunday, and is expected to meet with President Michel Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil on Monday.

Hale met Sunday with Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Joseph Aoun at his office in Yarzeh, accompanied by US Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard, where discussions focused on the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as the cooperation between the Lebanese and Us armies, mainly the aid provided by the US to the LAF.

Hale had kicked off his visit on Friday with a meeting with the Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblatt in Clemenceau.
