Cabinet’s first session: Committee formed to write Policy Statement

The government convened Saturday at noon in its first session since the formation on Thursday, under the chairmanship of President Michel Aoun, who called for fast drafting of the Policy Statement to kick off work within less than a month, in order to face the many challenges ahead.

 

The cabinet formed a 10-minister committee tasked with drafting the Policy Statement, the first draft of which has been prepared and is formed of 10 pages. The committee is set to convene on Monday at 11 am to discuss the draft.

 

The ministerial committee includes PM Saad Hariri and ministers Jamal al-Jarrah, Economy Minister Mansour Bteish, State Minister for Refugees Affairs Saleh al-Gharib, State Minister for Presidential Affairs Salim Jreissati, Education Minister Chouhayeb, State Minister for Administrative Development May Chidiac, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, Public Works and Transport Minister Youssef Finianos and Sports and Youth Minister Fneish.

 

At the beginning of the session, President Aoun congratulated the new ministers on assuming their duties, especially the female ministers, saying that “Lebanon is facing several challenges and the situation does not allow to waste time.”

 

For his part, PM Hariri said that there will be difficult decisions to be made in all the fields.
