Director General of the Internal Security Forces Maj. Gen. Imad Othman explained Sunday that since the first day of the popular movements, he issued a statement saying that it any attack against the security forces is unacceptable, hoping that the protesters will remain peaceful.
Speaking from central Beirut, Maj. Gen. Othman noted that the law orders them to protect the state’s institutions.
“I am here to tell the security forces that these demonstrators are our people,” he stated, stressing that he may be a statesman but he serves all of Lebanon, not a specific party.
