Aoun cancels his visit to Our Lady of Ilige in Mayfouk

As Head of Change and Reform Bloc MP Michel Aoun continues his tour in Jbeil, he cancelled his previously planned visit to Our Lady Of Ilige in Mayfouk.

The decision was preceded by a gathering of LF supporters to prevent Aoun from visiting the cemeteries of the martyrs.

Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said on Sunday that those who are calling for the adoption of an electoral law based on smaller districts want to dismantle the country and are thinking about instant gains. “It is no longer acceptable that the popular majority be represented by a parliamentary minority”, he said.

On the second day of his tour to Jbeil, Aoun said from the village of Ehmej that he endorses proportional representation “even if it costs the Free Patriotic Movement the loss of 4 MPs”.

Aoun said that the Lebanese people are waiting with their belongings packed up, ready to leave the country the moment they feel a sense of fear.

In reference to March 14, Aoun said: “If they come to power, it would be a fatal choice since they will lead a radical coup that is even more dangerous than the Syrian tutelage era.”

From Ehmej, Aoun went to Ras Osta where Hezbollah organized for him a popular reception.

In Annaya Aoun spoke about the mutual agreement with Hezbollah and said that the July 2006 war accelerated convergence at the popular level.

General Aoun participated in a Mass in Annaya chaired by Father Miled Tarabay.

He also met with the townspeople in the Church Hall, and later joined a lunch held in the monastery of Saint Maroun-Annaya

Later during the day Aoun visited St.George church in Tartej.

In the public garden of Mayfouk Aoun said: “Martyrs don’t belong to any party, they are martyrs of the whole country”.

While leaving Mayfouk, LF protestors gathered to denounce his visit to the town forcing the accompanying elements to interfere.

A simple dispute took place and security forces were deployed in the area to settle the issues.

Aoun’s convoy continued its way towards Bejje.
