Ras Al-Ain landfill, a nightmare to the residents of 57 villages
The landfill located in the town of Ras Al-Ain, Tyre constitutes an environmental danger threatening the underground water resources for being close to the natural reserve and the lakes of Ras al-Ain which feed more than 57 villages.

The fires, smoke and odors emitted from the landfill also threaten the residents' health and increase the risks of asthma, cancer, respiratory and stomach diseases among other diseases.

Meanwhile the municipality of Deir Qanous, Ras al-Ain was able to shut down its landfill following intensive efforts and contacts. It was reopened after no alternative was found.
