The General Directorate of State Security issued a statement on Friday, where it declared that Lebanese citizen Ziad Ahmad Itani (born in 1975), writer, actor and director, was arrested on charges of collaborating and communicating with the Israeli enemy.
During interrogations, Itani confessed to the accusations and admitted the missions that he had been tasked with implementing in Lebanon, including:
- Monitoring a group of top political figures, and consolidating relationships with their close associates, in order to acquire details about their lives and jobs while focusing on their movements.
- Providing them with extensive information on two prominent political figures, whose identity will be disclosed in our subsequent statements.
- Working to establish a Lebanese group that paves the way for the normalization of relations with Israel and promoting Zionist ideology among intellectuals.
- Providing them with reports on the reactions of the Lebanese people in light of the political developments that took place during the past two weeks in Lebanon.
The General Directorate of State Security is pursuing investigations into the case under the supervision of the concerned judiciary and will disclose more information for the public opinion.
