Head of the Lebanese Union of Professional Divers, Mohammad al-Siraj, declared in a statement on Tuesday the discovery of ruins of eleven ships belonging to the Greek era (circa 300 BC) lying 35 meters underwater southern the city of Tyre.
According to al-Siraj, the discovered ships likely belonged to the Macedonian Army; they sank during the Siege of Tyre orchestrated by Alexander the Great in 322 BC.
