Financial Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim issued an arrest warrant against actress Stephanie Saliba on Friday morning.
Al-Akhbar newspaper revealed on Thursday that "the Public Prosecutor of Appeal in Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, issued a search and investigation warrant against actress Stephanie Saliba."
The warrant was based on the Lebanese and European investigations that are taking place in the embezzlement, laundering, and theft of money of the accused, the Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh.
The memorandum was circulated to security services. Al-Akhbar indicated that "political interference at a high level, especially by the caretaker Prime Minister Mikati, prevented Saliba from being arrested upon her arrival yesterday, Thursday, at Beirut International Airport."
In a statement, the media office of caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati denied "what was reported by Al-Akhbar newspaper about his interference in a file related to Stephanie Saliba."
Saliba, on the other hand, has remained very active on Instagram, as she recently posted a photo from Riyadh while enjoying french fries following a red carpet event.
