Agriculture Minister al-Hajj Hassan: FAO ranked Lebanon among 20 countries at risk of food insecurity
Minister of Agriculture Abbas al-Hajj Hassan said on Friday that more than half of Lebanon’s population is in danger of not having access to basic food necessities as a result of Coronavirus and the economic crisis.

Al-Hajj Khalil made his remarks during a speech delivered at the ministerial conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Istanbul.

In his speech, the minister revealed that The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) ranked Lebanon among the 20 countries at risk of food insecurity.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of making “the agricultural and food system a key driver to ensure the resilience of the Lebanese economy and to transform it into a productive one.”
