30-year-old corpse found in Beaufort Castle, Nabatiyeh

Field employees of the Directorate General of Antiquities found on Wednesday a 30-year-old corpse while they were rehabilitating the Beaufort Castle in the southern region of Nabatiyeh.

In this context, Army Intelligence members and Internal Security Forces (ISF), escorted by Doctor Jamal Alou, head of the Nabatiyeh's Association of Physicians, immediately rushed to the scene and revealed that the body belongs to a 30-year-old male who had died approximately 30 years ago in battles near the Beaufort Castle, Nabatiyeh.

For his part, Doctor Alou pointed out that the body belongs to a fighter who was probably killed during the 1982 Israeli occupation, namely in the battles that had erupted between Lebanese and Palestinian nationals in the aforementioned Castle.

Accordingly, Doctor Alou alongside the ISF and Army Intelligence members transferred the body to Nabatiyeh and delivered it to the Public Prosecution and then to Beirut's Central Laboratory in order to conduct DNA tests to reveal the identity of the body.
