Patriarch Rai tours Ftouh Keserwan's villages

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Rai toured on Saturday Ftouh Keserwan's villages.

During the tour, he urged the Lebanese people to unite "to serve the interests of Lebanon" by distancing themselves from the regional developments.

"Lebanese people want peace, unity and coexistence; we must preserve the message of Lebanon in the region."

Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rai is the 77th Maronite Patriarch, succeeding Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir.

Rai also holds the position of a Cardinal of the Catholic Church.

At 71, he was elected Patriarch of the Maronites on the 15th of March 2011, after getting more than two-thirds of the votes of the 39 bishops.
