Muallem press conference footage taken in Bab el-Tebanne?

The images shown during a Syrian press conference on Monday were claimed to be taken in various Syrian cities during the recent uprising, but an NNA report sheds light on a different story with Lebanese roots.

The images, allegedly of armed men during the Syrian uprising presented by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem during his press conference in Damascus sparked frenzy in Bab el-Tebanne, Tripoli.

The NNA reported that the footage actually shows two men from Tripoli and were taken during the 2008 clashes between Bab Tebbene and Jabal Muhsen.

The relevant pictures prompted the relevant men to stage a protest near Nahr Bou Ali’s roundabout.

The protesters pointed out that these photos are also posted on Facebook, calling on the state to intervene to settle this issue fearing that they will be internationally, regionally and locally persecuted .
