Minister of Education Elias Bou Saab: Lebanon's history book should not be based on political points of view

Higher Learning and National Education Minister Elias Bou Saab expressed on Thursday his regret over the fact that the Lebanese people have failed to reach an agreement over an unified version of Lebanon's history book.

"It's such a shame that the post 1947 phase of Lebanon's history has not been documented yet due to the country's internal political disputes," Bou Saab said.

The Minister noted that the committee tasked to put together a unified history book had taken into consideration the notes and concerns of political parties and had accordingly made necessary amendments.

However, the Minister asserted that Lebanon's history book should not be based on political points of view, urging to place the final touches on the book in a way that satisfies all rival sides.
