Lebanon official charged with embezzlement of public funds

General Financial Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim charged on Tuesday the former head of the Central Fund for the Displaced, Fadi Aramouni, with embezzlement of public funds.

Judge Ibrahim referred Aramouni to Beirut Examining Magistrate Judge Ghassan Oueidat.

Last month, Oueidat issued two indictments against the head of the Higher Relief Council (HRC) Ibrahim Bashir and his wife on charges of embezzlement.

Judge Oweidat requested, in his indictment, a 15-year prison term with hard labor for Bashir.
