The campaign launched to urge officials to close al-Naameh landfill stressed Sunday that “campaign’s main purpose is to close the landfill,” noting that the security forces’ duty is to protect the citizens, not oppress them.
In this regard, the campaign reiterated its rejection to the plan set for the solid waste management, since it includes an “implicit extension to the landfill’s mandate and does not stipulate a clear and real plan for the post-al-Naameh landfill situation.”
The campaign also urged the environment minister to resign, “due to his failure to handle this case.”
