Two-meter long seal spotted in Lebanon's Anfeh
A two-meter long seal was spotted on Friday by a fisherman off the shore of Anfeh in north Lebanon Friday. The featured photo depicts the sea mammal off the Lebanese shore, home to various aquatic animals and endangered species.

Last week a fishermen in the region of al-Rawsheh caught an extremely rare and endangered Mediterranean Monk seal that was trapped in the fishing net.

The seal was brought ashore where she was found to be pregnant. Unconfirmed reports stated that the mother was already dead when caught and the fishermen had attempted to save its calf through a C-section.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Mediterranean Monk Seals are a critically endangered species of sea mammal that number at fewer than 600 remaining individuals.
