Authorities start installing bird repellers near Beirut airport
Authorities started on Thursday installing bird repellers at the Beirut International airport to drive birds away.

Public Works Minister Youssef Finianos said that the Civil Aviation Authority started the work in the early hours of the morning.

"We are working quickly," Fenianos said.

This comes as seagulls attracted to the garbage in the Costa Brava landfill became a danger to planes at the nearby airport.

The safety of flights has been raised after several instances occurred of birds hitting planes during takeoff.
