Kahwaji: We will not allow any extra-state buffer zone in Lebanon

Army Commander Jean Kahwaji announced on Monday that regardless of the events in Syria, the LAF will remain fully prepared for its role and patriotic responsibilities in order to curb the repercussions of the Syrian incidents on Lebanon.

He added that the army will not allow the creation of any extra-state buffer zone in Lebanon. He also warned that the army’s response shall be firm and effective in line with a solid plan that will be implemented on the ground.

Kahwaji reiterated adherence to international resolutions and coordination with the UNIFIL, stressing that the army will not allow that the blue line becomes a permanent border line. The commander added that the army will confront the “enemy” with all its power, no matter the cost.
