Iranian National Security Higher Council Secretariat, Said Jalili, arrived Monday to Beirut from Tehran. At the airport, Jalili stressed the importance of having continuous intensive communications, consultations and exchanging opinions to serve the interests of the Islamic people, the countries of the region and their people, saying that work should be in the direction that leads to establishing security, stability and calmness in the region. Jalili during his visit will meet with senior Lebanese officials with discussions to feature high on bilateral relations between the two countries as well as issues in Lebanon and the region, mainly in Syria. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adnan Mansour, Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Ghaznfer Rokn Abadi, and seniors at the Iranian embassy welcomed Jalili at the airport. Jalili said that the ties between Iran and Lebanon are deep and strategic on political, cultural and economic levels. Jalili underlined the important role that Lebanon was playing regionally, internationally and on the resistance level. He added that the Islamic awakening created a big and complete opportunity on the regional level, pointing out that the people and countries of the region have the opportunity, at this stage, to build their hopes and future through their special national will. Jalili did not respond to a question about the fate of the 48 kidnapped Iranians in Syria, saying "we will talk about that later."
