Ammar al- Dadikhi aka "Abu Ibrahim", self-proclaimed ruler of Aazaz
Since the start of the Syrian uprising against President Bashar Assad, the town of Aazaz in Aleppo Reef was slowly but surely dragged into the media limelight. This became especially true for the Lebanese for being directly related to the abduction of the 11 Lebanese pilgrims in Syria.

“Abu Ibrahim” or Ammar al-Dadikhi subsequently became widely recognized, as the self-proclaimed ruler of the Aleppo’s Reef region of Aazaz.

The residents of Aazaz are proud to be among the first who rose up against the Syrian regime, after Deraa. In this regard, Abu Ibrahim stressed that "the city of Aazaz is very important for the regime since it is the place where President Bashar Assad is implementing a security plan including the deployment of around 2000 members of his Shabbiha”, Abu Ibrahim said.

Abu Ibrahim, the field commander, whose authority claims to go beyond Aazaz reaching Bab al-Salam road and border crossings, confirmed that the Free Syrian Army besieged Aazaz for 28 days and banned “Assad’s gangs”. He said that defections from the Syrian army began 10 days after the siege, adding that Aazaz was completely liberated in 22 days.

Abu Ibrahim himself is the leader of the group of outlaws which abducted or as it says is “hosting” the 11 Lebanese pilgrims in Aazaz in May.
