A Tyre restaurant reaps the first penalty of the non-smoking law
The National News Agency reported that an employee from the Ministry of Economy issued a fine for "Sunset", a restaurant located in Tyre for failing to adhere to the newly adopted non-smoking law. According to reports, customers were smoking nargileh’s inside the restaurant's closed walls.

In this regard, Mohammad Ismail, the owner of the restaurant, criticized the law which he described as arbitrary and “designed to put venues out of business” adding that he will not stop serving the nargileh should his customers desire to smoke.

Ismail added while signing the fine, that he has no knowledge of the non-smoking law since he does not follow the news, according to the ministry’s employees.

The non-smoking law also known as law #174 was placed into effect on  Monday 3rd of September 2012.
