Lebanese Army: Hope of finding survivors at the site of the explosion is fading
The Lebanese Army held a press conference on Sunday to explain the search and rescue operation at the site of the Beirut blast.

The commander of the Lebanese Army Engineering Regiment, Roger El-Khoury announced the end of the first phase of search and rescue operations, with regard to finding survivors.

He explained that the port was divided into sectors, and every foreign team received a sector, pointing out that hope is weak to find survivors.

He said: “The teams that were searching for survivors considered that their work was finished.”

He stressed that "work continues around the clock to search for survivors, amid difficulties arising from the presence of huge quantities of rubble in Beirut port."
