Binding consultations to name new PM kick off at Baabda Palace
Binding parliamentary consultations to name a new prime minister in Lebanon in order to a new government kicked off on Monday morning at the Baabda Presidential Palace.

Aoun first met with former Prime Minister Najib Mikati who named Lebanon's ambassador to Germany Mustapha Adib as his candidate for the premiership.

Then Aoun met with former Prime Minister Saad Hariri who also named Abid for the post.

Following the meeting, Hariri told reporters that “everyone's goal should be to reconstruct Beirut and achieve financial and economic reforms.”

He also stressed the need of the swift formation of a government of specialists.

Former Prime Minister Tammam Salam also named Adib for the premiership, adding that “his burden will be heavy.”

As for Lebanon's Deputy Parliament Speaker Elie Ferzli, he did not name anyone for the post.

Meanwhile, the Future Movement bloc named Abid to be Lebanon’s next PM.

This as the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc also named Adib for the post, calling on everyone to “positively cooperate.”

Then Aoun met with members of the Strong republic bloc who named Ambassador Nawwaf Salam as its candidate to lead the new government.
