President Michel Aoun met on Monday at Baabda palace with Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League Ambassador Hossam Zaki who said his visit was an initiative to solve the Lebanon-Gulf rift.
Zaki noted that he would visit Saudi Arabia if need be, and the talks with President Aoun were positive.
He later visited Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail.
The latter stressed that “Lebanon is keen on returning relations with KSA and the Gulf to normal,” noting that “Lebanon will make efforts to resolve the differences.”
“The Arab League can play a crucial role in this matter,” he added.
"There is more to the issue than meets the eyes, and it goes beyond the comments of a minister on the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen. This is an integrated position on the situation, it is what Saudi Arabia has condemned, and the position deviates from Arab decisions in regards to the Yemeni issue," he pointed out in a joint press conference following his meeting with Bou Habib.
