Defense Minister Selim meets with Italian counterpart
Defense Minister Maurice Selim met on Friday with his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Guerini in the presence of Ambassador of Italy to Lebanon Nicoletta Bombardiere and the accompanying delegation, whereby he highlighted “Lebanon's adherence to strengthening the existing and ongoing military cooperation between Lebanon and Italy.”

He also stressed Lebanon’s keenness regarding the UNIFIL forces, as well as enabling them to carry out its tasks to the maximum extent in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

For his part, Minister Guerini affirmed his country's commitment to Lebanon, adding that it will continue to participate in the international force.

He then invited Selim to visit Italy to follow up on consultations in the field of developing military cooperation between both countries, pointing out that “Italy is following with interest all efforts made within the framework of negotiations with the World Bank.”

On another note, Selim informed him that “Italy is awaiting the response of the UN to its request to add an Italian ship to Lebanese navy's fleet.”
