Minister of Culture Mortada meets French Ambassador Grillo

Minister of Culture Mohammad Mortada met on Friday with French Ambassador to Lebanon Anne Grillo, whereby they discussed the depth of cultural relations between France and Lebanon.

Mortada underlined the “distinguished relations that bind Lebanon to France since its establishment, especially in terms of culture, which makes the Lebanese aspire to greater French support and assistance.”

For her part, the French Ambassador highlighted the “joint work it is doing with the Directorate General of Antiquities at all levels,” stressing that "the relationship should be based on a sustainable and well-defined plan to ensure the continuation of cultural work and its humanitarian consequences at the level of individuals and cultural institutions in Lebanon.”

France is more interested in supporting and accompanying cultural activities in a kind and technical way that contributes to the strengthening of the cultural human dimension as well as its continuity, she explained.

They then both agreed that the work team of the Ministry of Culture and its advisors will communicate with the French Embassy’s work team to develop programs and cultural projects in which Lebanon and France can both participate.
