Prime Minister Najib Mikati discussed on Monday with Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit the Lebanese situation, the upcoming elections, the international situation and its effects on the Middle East, Lebanon, Arab countries, and the Kuwaiti-Gulf initiative.
"I feel hope for a better future for this country," Aboul Gheit stated following the meeting from the Grand Serail.
Mikati also met with an Iraqi Premiership delegation, headed by Iraqi Prime Minister's Advisor Alaa al-Saadi, to discuss an agreement of bilateral cooperation in the industrial field, in the presence of the Ministers of Finance, Industry, Public Works, and Agriculture.
Following the meeting, the Minister of Industry said: "Things are accelerating between Lebanon and Iraq in terms of economic steps and economic partnership. We discussed in our meeting today the future outlook for every economic exchange in terms of agriculture, industry, education, health, and all the experiences that we and Iraq has within a comprehensive policy, by creating a joint economic zone between us and Iraq, which is an important and strategic idea for the two countries through the port of Tripoli, with the presence of a second economic zone in order to create an agricultural and industrial movement in all fields.”
Independently Mikati welcomed at the Grand Serail British Ambassador to Lebanon Ian Collard, whereby they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.
