PM Mikati meets Qatari ambassador, ​ Head of GLC [VIDEO]
Qatari ambassador to Lebanon Ibrahim bin Abdel Aziz Al-Sahlawi conveyed on Wednesday to Prime Minister Najib Mikati the congratulations of the State of Qatar on the success of the parliamentary elections.
 
The envoy’s comments were made following a meeting with Mikati at the grand Serail whereby h stressed that Qatar welcomed and has always welcomed the conduct of the electoral process in Lebanon.
 
“We hope that this process will lead to general consensus to complete other electoral dues,” he added.
 
Concerning the election results, he emphasized that they are democratic and that Qatar has always stood on equal distance with all parties in Lebanon.
 
”This as Mikati had met in the morning with the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander major General Joseph Aoun. 
 

Mikati also met at the Grand Serail with the Head of the General Labor Confederation (GLC) Bechara al-Asmar, accompanied by a GLC delegation, who congratulated the government on the successful organization and completion of the constitutional electoral deadline.

 

On emerging, al-Asmar said that they also discussed the issue of transportation allowances and social assistance, in light of the skyrocketing rise in the US dollar exchange rate.

 

Al-Asmar said that the GLC insists at this stage to increase the transportation allowance so that workers in the public and private sectors can carry out their daily functions, and monitoring the uncontrolled prices.
