Ziad Baroud to LBCI: Vacuum is constitutionally unacceptable
Former Interior Minister Ziad Baroud stressed on Thursday that if a new government is formed without electing a president of the republic by the constitutional deadline, the new government will assume power by proxy.

Baroud’s comments were made during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show on LBCI, whereby he discussed the powers of the caretaker government, and explained that they are limited, meaning that they are concerned with constitutional and legal deadlines without incurring additional financial burdens on the Lebanese state.

He then concluded by saying that the vacuum, particularly in the presidency, is constitutionally unacceptable.
