Rai urges presidential election, government formation

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai called on Sunday for the formation of “a capable new government” and for the election of a president before the end of the current president’s term on October 31,” adding that the new president should enjoy the characteristics which all Lebanese agree on.

Rai’s comments were made during his Sunday sermon, whereby he called for protecting the judiciary from all politicization and dependence.”
