Agriculture Minister Abbas Hajj Hassan’s comments on International Apple Day

Caretaker Agriculture Minister Abbas Hajj Hassan confirmed on Saturday on the occasion of the International Apple Day that Lebanon can be a strong global partner in the cultivation of apple, as the country's climate is suitable to apple farming.

The minister’s comments were made during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show on LBCI, whereby he hoped that all friendly countries would cooperate in exporting Lebanese apples, and that political tensions between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia would be set aside in order to export apples to the Kingdom.

He also called for the removal of transit and customs obstacles with Syria, Jordan and Iraq to make it easier to export Lebanese apples to these countries.

He then stressed that the state and the Ministry of Agriculture stand by the Lebanese farmers, considering that the Lebanese products raise Lebanon's name high.
